Educational workshop “Stories under the earth”
June 14, 2025 – National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria
The National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria proposes for Saturday, June 14, 2025, the educational workshop “Stories under the earth”, an educational activity aimed at children from 6 to 11 years, aimed at bringing young people closer to archaeology through direct experimentation.
Guided by specialized archaeologists, participants will be involved in an excavation simulation inside the museum, during which they will have a chance to learn about stratigraphic survey techniques, methods of documentation and the meaning of ancient funerary equipment. The five reconstructed burials, dating from different eras (from the Paleolithic to the Hellenistic age), will allow you to explore the cultural transformations of ancient Calabria.
The laboratory aims to:
– stimulate curiosity about cultural heritage through hands-on experience;
– promote critical thinking and observation;
– encourage active and inclusive participation;
– encourage a personal and emotional relationship with history.
