The national project “Il Vespucci incontra la cultura“, promoted by the Ministry of Culture and Defence Servizi S.p.A., was presented on Monday 5 May 2025 in Reggio Calabria, which also features the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria on the occasion of the reggina stage of the Mediterranean Tour Vespucci – Village IN Italy, in the city until 7 May 2025.
During the next stages of the Mediterranean Tour Vespucci, thanks to the project it will be possible to discover the wonders of national museums and cultural sites of the cities reached by Nave Amerigo Vespucci, with a special discount on the entrance ticket in the days of stay in the city of the Ship School of the Navy.
The initiative is a virtuous example of collaboration between institutions, with the aim of enhancing and promoting the system of Italian museums, in conjunction with the Amerigo Vespucci Ship Tour, ambassador of Made in Italy in the world and protagonist of the success of the World Tour that has touched 30 countries.
The memorandum of understanding, signed by the General Director Museums prof. Massimo Osanna for the MiC and the CEO dott. Luca Andreoli for Difesa Servizi S.p.A., is aimed at promoting the beauty and excellence of Italy, in particular those linked to the history and culture of our country.
“The Amerigo Vespucci School Ship is a unique icon in the world, an undisputed protagonist of naval culture and a vehicle for the international promotion of Italian heritage. – Said the Director General Museums Massimo Osanna – The national project “Il Vespucci meets culture”, is the result of a productive dialogue between the Directorate General Museums and Defense Services S.p.A., in a network perspective of the National Museum System and shared exploitation of all resources that represent the identity of a territory”.
During the days when the Amerigo Vespucci will stop in the next Italian cities, citizens can discover the wonders of national museums and cultural institutes listed in the agreement, thanks to a special discount on admission. Access will be regulated by reservation on the website www.tourvespucci.it: visitors with a booking receipt can buy the ticket directly at the museum’s ticket office.
The National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria (MArRC) is the first stage of implementation of the memorandum of understanding, thus confirming its commitment to promoting culture, in a synergistic approach with the National Museum System.
