The exhibition “Gli Dei ritornano. I bronzi di San Casciano” at MArRC has been extended until 2 March

Following the great interest and significant participation from the public, the exhibition “The Gods Return. I bronzi di San Casciano” in progress at the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria has been extended until 2 March 2025.

Curated by Massimo Osanna and Jacopo Tabolli, promoted by the Ministry of Culture and realized by the Directorate General Museums of the MiC with the MArRC, the exhibition is the result of collaboration between a plurality of institutions responsible for research, protection and enhancement of the territory.

The exhibition offers a fascinating journey to discover the ancient ritual practices related to thermal waters in the Etruscan and Roman sanctuary of Bagno Grande di San Casciano dei Bagni and is a significant opportunity to explore the historical and cultural significance of the finds, which include the largest deposit of bronze statues of Etruscan and Roman age ever discovered in Italy.

In addition to the archaeological finds, the exhibition is enriched by multimedia insights that allow visitors to better understand the historical and religious context in which these works were born. Video testimonies, 3D reconstructions and explanatory panels provide a complete view of the sanctuary and its evolution over time, highlighting the importance of sacred waters in the ancient world as a source of life, healing and devotion.

The extension allows the public a further opportunity to admire valuable finds dating from the second and first centuries BC, a historical period of great transformations that sees the definitive romanization of the powerful Etruscan cities.

The last day of the exhibition, Sunday 2 March 2025, coincides with the initiative #domenicalmuseo promoted by the Ministry of Culture that allows free admission every first Sunday of the month, allowing an even wider audience to admire the precious bronzes of San Casciano and immerse themselves in the fascinating history of the ancient thermal sanctuary.

The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday (closed on Mondays), with continuous hours from 9:00 to 20:00, last entrance at 19:30. Admission is always free up to the age of 18.
