On the evening of July 16, 2024, the National Archaeological Museum in Reggio Calabria had the honor to host a stage of the program of the Meeting of Trade Ministers – G7 Italy that is taking place these days at Villa San Giovanni. The director of MARRC Fabrizio Sudano welcomed the Hon. Antonio Tajani, Vice President of the Council and Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and ministers from G7 countries, as well as invited ministers from third countries, on a visit which was an immersion in the history and culture of Magna Graecia.
The visit, which lasted about 45 minutes, allowed the distinguished international guests to admire some of the gems of the Museum housed in Palazzo Piacentini. Among the highlights of the visit the “Kouros di Reggio“, the precious marble statue dating back to 500 BC, and the inevitable stop in the famous Hall of Bronze, with institutional photo attached.
«It was an honour to host the G7 and Outreach Trade Ministers at the museum, says Director Sudano. I thank Minister Tajani for the attention paid to this cultural moment and promotion of the territory. The inclusion of MArRC in the institutional programme G7 Commerce underlines the strategic role of culture for Italy, and the importance of MArRC in the world archaeological panorama. The National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria is a driving force for promoting and enhancing the history of all Magna Graecia, and with the universal language of the beauty of the Bronzes of Riace fascinates and passionates visitors from all over the world».
At the end of the tour, the distinguished guests stopped in piazza Paolo Orsi, left a thought on the book signed by MArRC and were honored with the photographic book on the Bronzes of Riace of a silver reproduction of the two statues, offered by the governor of Calabria, Roberto Occhiuto.
